I’m Mike and I like mountain biking. There’s something so rewarding yet so goofy about the sport that draws me to it. I recently started competing in mountain bike races, but my favorite part of mountain biking has always been (and still is) hanging out with friends, sessioning features, and doing gnarly stuff. I love to improve, and there’s always something to improve at or learn with mountain biking.
I’ve been riding mountain bikes since 2017. I started in Indiana, where my friend asked if I wanted to come for a mountain bike ride. I usually say “yes” to things when I can; life’s more fun that way. I hopped on my Walmart Hyper “Full Suspension” mountain bike and headed out to the trails, where I got muddy, terrified, and out of breath. It was the most fun I had all summer. I quickly grabbed an entry level Jamis hardtail and got to riding more. The rest is history; Full suspension upgrade a year later. Enduro bike a few years later. And my first dedicated race bike last year.
My “style” of riding is pretty much everything. I lean more towards the downhill/jumps side than the fitness side, but I am working on my fitness more every year. I recently started racing enduro, which has been an amazing challenge. I love hitting jumps too; It’s one of the best ways for me to clear my head and just flow.
While biking, I’ve lived in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Colorado, although I grew up on the East Coast near Boston.
